The Pasadena Jaycees host an annual party for the children of Five Acres, a foster care home in Altadena. This event, typically held in early summer, is designed to provide a fun, supportive day for the children.
The party includes activities like sports, arts and crafts, and water games. An educational STEAM activity is also part of the program. Lunch is provided, often donated by a local business, along with treats like popcorn and snow cones. The aim of this project is to provide foster children a sense of joy, community, and normalcy to build fond childhood memories to look back on for years to come.
Since 1888, Five Acres has been a non-profit child and family services agency dedicated to strengthening families and preventing child abuse through residential, educational, and mental health programs. The Pasadena Jaycees are honored to support their mission, particularly through this event for the last 20+ years. In recognition of our commitment, the Jaycees received the 2013 Special Services to Children Award from Five Acres.
